Animation

Introduction
LCAD’s Experimental Animation Track empowers students to explore innovative techniques that define the future of independent and applied animation within a wide range of industries. Through a fusion of practical artistry and theoretical exploration, the program offers a foundation in traditional and limited animation principles while innovating with new technologies in the ever-developing artform.
Utilizing cutting-edge, industry-standard, and emerging software, students expand their artistic tool sets while crafting dynamic projects in Paperless 2D, Digital Puppetry, 3D (animation and modeling), Stop Motion, and Visual Effects.
Students engage with interactive multimedia, music videos (incorporating kinetic typography or experimental data visualization), game animation (integrating motion capture), and they study independent narratives for series and streaming, crafting distinctive styles and personalized stories that transcend conventional production and standard frame rates. Mixed-media approaches foster creative synthesis of animation and real-world imagery through advanced compositing techniques.
About the program
The LCAD Experimental Animation track allows you to branch out into purely digital approaches to narrative character animation. Limited animation techniques along with alternate approaches to stop motion and CG techniques will prepare you for the fast-paced world of animated series production.
