Innovation Center Construction Update

The New Innovation Center
We’re excited to share that construction on LCAD’s new Innovation Center is scheduled to begin in late February on our Big Bend campus, an important milestone in the continued growth of our college.
The Innovation Center will be a two-story, 22,000-square-foot space designed to bring our creative community together. It will feature state-of-the-art classrooms and print labs, event spaces, a café, gallery space, and collaborative environments that support innovation across all of our programs. More than a building, it will serve as a hub for connection, bringing students, alumni, faculty, and industry partners together under one roof.

The Challenges
As with any major construction project, there will be temporary challenges. The most noticeable change will be parking on campus. You will most likely also experience increased construction noise and all efforts will be to minimize this as much as possible. Our team will provide regular updates and clear communication throughout the process.

Important Notice: Parking + Transportation Changes
Parking will no longer be available for students at Big Bend (Monday – Friday / 8am – 9pm) or East Campus (Monday – Friday / 8am – 5pm). For new locations for your daily parking, please consult the parking map for newly assigned parking spaces for students:
- Big Bend parking will be limited to staff and faculty only (Monday – Friday / 8am – 9pm). Students can park at Big Bend outside of these days and hours.
- If you have any accessibility accommodations that require you to have a vehicle near by please contact Lisa Villanueva ([email protected]) to determine parking alternatives for Big Bend. This is subject to final approval with appropriate documentation.
- Students will have new parking spaces in three dedicated parking areas along Laguna Canyon Road; Lot 10, Lot 16 “Act V” and on-street parking spaces.
- Student parking will still be allowed on Main Campus. If this lot is full, students will park on Lot 16 “Act V” or Lot 10.
- Students will NOT be allowed to park on East Campus between 8am and 5pm weekdays. An additional and dedicated LCAD shuttle will run continuously between Lot 10, Lot 16 “Act V” and Big Bend during normal school hours in approximately 15-minute intervals.
- For concerns regarding shuttle timeliness or experiencing less than satisfactory shuttle waiting times or for general feedback, please contact Dean of Student Affairs, Omar Zuwayed, [email protected].
- Designated remote parking lots are:
- Lot 16 “Act V” (Weekdays + Saturday)
- Lot 10 / Dorms (Weekdays ONLY)
- Street parking along Laguna Canyon Road adjacent t0 Lot 10
- Express shuttle will stop at Lot 16 Act V, Lot 10/Dorms, and Big Bend
- Regular shuttle service and schedule will remain uninterrupted
Your safety will be our top priority during the construction. The addition of the Express Shuttle is to ensure no one walks alongside Laguna Canyon Road.

The Next Chapter
We recognize that parking changes affect your daily routine, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we move through this transition together. Please allow yourself enough time to plan your parking and shuttle to get to your classes on time. Carpooling with other students when possible is encouraged.
The Innovation Center represents the next chapter of LCAD, an investment in your creative future and in the strength of our alumni community. Thank you for being part of the growth of this college and for helping shape what comes next.
