Special Requirements
In addition to being responsible for following the same application procedures as domestic students, all international students have additional documentation requirements. All international transcripts must be submitted to IERF, WES, ECE, ACEI and Span Tran for conversion into US equivalents. There is a separate fee and time requirement for this service. Please visit their websites and plan accordingly.
TOEFL/IELTS Test Scores
If your native language is not English, you must take either the TOEFL exam and achieve a minimum score of 79, the IELTS and earn a minimum score of 6, or a Duolingo English Test score minimum of 110. All test scores must be sent directly from the testing service and must have been taken within two years prior to the time of application. Institutional versions of the test are not accepted. International students also are required to take an English Diagnostic examination during Orientation Week.
The TOEFL, IELTS and DET exams may be waived only at the discretion of LCAD’s Admissions Committee through the completion of English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and/or extended attendance at schools in the United States.
LCAD’s Admissions Committee will determine whether or not you have:
- The required proficiency in English
- The ability to communicate appropriately with proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Decleration of Finances, I-20 and F1 Student Visas
Once you have been admitted you will receive a formal letter stating so and asking you for additional documentation so that we may issue your I-20.
You must submit a Declaration of Finances Form from you, your parent, sponsor, or sponsoring agency and an official bank statement. The bank statement must show a balance equal to or greater than the cost of attendance at the college for one year (Cost of Attendance may vary year to year—the official amount can be obtained from LCAD’s Office of Admissions + Financial Aid).
Upon your acceptance to the BFA program and once LCAD has received your Declaration of Finances Form and the nonrefundable $250 deposit fee, we will send you an I-20 document. The completed I-20 must be taken to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your country to obtain an F-1 Student Visa.
