Description
Our academically trained faculty guide students through this six-week portrait painting intensive, emphasizing strong foundational skills through quick studies and focused exercises. Students will develop accuracy in proportion, structure, and gesture while building confidence through painting sessions that encourage experimentation and adaptability. The course explores techniques for capturing light effects, simplifying form, and working efficiently with value and color in a variety of challenging prompts and limited-palette studies.
Individualized instruction supports artists at every level, allowing each student to refine their approach and progress at their own pace within a fast-paced, supportive environment. In-class demonstrations will be presented in oil paint, but participants are welcome to work in the painting medium of their choice. Students furnish their own supplies and are encouraged to bring the materials they typically use to class. Students of all skill levels are welcome.
