The fab lab

The LCAD Fabrication Lab is where creativity meets technology—a space for students to experiment, prototype, and innovate. Open to students of all majors and experience levels, the Fab Lab provides a supportive, hands-on environment for class projects, personal artwork, research, or exploring new ideas.

Here, students gain practical, hands-on experience, develop industry-relevant skills, and bring their creative visions to life.

The Woodshop and Paint Booth are hands-on creative spaces designed to support woodworking, finishing, and prototyping projects. The Woodshop is equipped with essential tools, including:

  • Table saw
  • Miter saw
  • Panel saw
  • Scroll saw
  • Drill press
  • Band saw
  • Belt sander

The Paint Booth provides a controlled environment for safe application of paints, stains, and finishes.

Usage Policy:

All faculty, staff, and students must complete a training session and pass a written exam before using the Woodshop or Paint Booth to ensure safety and proper equipment use.

How to Schedule Training:

We encourage all students to take advantage of these spaces to explore woodworking and finishing techniques while maintaining a safe and productive environment.

The Fab Lab

Devin Wilson is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and digital fabricator based in Southern California. In 2024, they earned an MFA from the University of California, Irvine, where they served as a pedagogical scholar with the Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation. Devin was the recipient of the 2024–2025 Digital Residency at California State University, Long Beach, and is a current 2025-2026 Supercollider SciArt Ambassador Fellow.

Through the creation of a fictional corporation, IN-TECHS, Devin’s practice explores the intersections of capitalism, pop culture, and technology. By integrating engineering processes into the arts, their work fosters collaboration between humans and technology.
