Introduction

The Character Animation Curricular Track immerses students in the craft of classical, hand-drawn (2D) animation, combining time-honored techniques with a forward-looking approach to expressive character performance and storytelling. Rooted in core principles of gesture, timing, weight, and personality, the program emphasizes creating believable, emotionally resonant characters.

Students engage in every stage of the animation process, from storyboarding and visual development to character design and final production, building artistic and technical skills through a mix of independent and collaborative projects. Guided by experienced faculty, students navigate real-world workflows while nurturing artistic growth.

While grounded in traditional principles, the program embraces contemporary practices and equips students with industry-standard 2D and 3D tools, with an eye on developing technologies that continue to shape the animation field. Visiting artists, workshops, and participation in international film festivals provide added inspiration and exposure.

By blending timeless artistry with evolving techniques and industry insights, students are prepared to be the artists and storytellers advancing the craft of animation for tomorrow.
