Million Dollar Pledge

LCAD is proud to announce a $1,000,000 bequest from Trustee Miriam L. Smith, founder of Art Resource Group. Her gift establishes two scholarships: the Miriam Larson Smith Endowed Scholarship for Emerging Artists, and the Miriam Larson Smith Annual Scholarship. Each will offer needs-based support for students with exceptional artistic promise in Art and Design.

“We are honored and deeply grateful for the vision and generosity of Miriam to support and foster the future of art and design education at LCAD,” said Mark Saville, Vice President of Advancement.

48 HOUR GAME JAM

Each year, LCAD hosts the annual 48-Hour Game Jam, bringing together more than 100 students from colleges and programs across the region. The event showcases true cross-disciplinary collaboration, talent, and creativity.

Held November 7-9, this year’s theme, Tiny Triumphs, inspired an impressive range of inventive and original game concepts. Participants were divided into teams and challenged to create a fully executable game build within 48 hours. We were thrilled to welcome teams from LCAD, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, and USC.

The New Era of Creatives

As the year draws to a close, we invite you to deepen your impact with a meaningful gift to LCAD. No amount is too small and every contribution opens doors, fuels innovation, and ensures that the next generation of creative leaders can thrive.

NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH ROLAND DGA

LCAD recently received a game-changing addition to the campus: the Roland LG-640 printer, generously provided by Roland DGA. This advanced technology will expand creative possibilities for our students, giving them the opportunity to explore new mediums, experiment with packaging and product concepts, and push the boundaries of their projects.

This collaboration also provides LCAD with access to Roland DGA’s state-of-the-art facility. Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing the innovative work our students create as they learn and explore this powerful new tool. Stay tuned.

LCAD Gallery Exhibition: Listen Louder

LISTEN LOUDER, an immersive exhibition by internationally acclaimed artist Ana Teresa Fernández, was on view at the LCAD Gallery throughout October and November. Centered on the theme of “the ocean,” the exhibition explored the ever-shifting boundary that separates land and sea, water, and air. This dynamic border serves as a central force in Fernández’s work, and the installation invited viewers to reflect on its beauty, power, and complexity.
