Course Credit:  3.0

This course introduces the core concepts, tools, and workflows used in real-time rendering for the games industry. Students will explore how assets, materials, lighting, and cameras are processed and displayed in real-time using modern game engines. Emphasis is placed on understanding the technical and artistic tradeoffs that differentiate real-time rendering from offline rendering, with a focus on performance, optimization, and visual fidelity. Through hands-on exercises and short projects, students will learn how shaders, textures, lighting models, and post-processing effects work together to create visually compelling and performant interactive experiences.
