Drawing + Painting
Introduction
Alongside building skills, our courses encourage experimentation with materials and exploration of individual ideas and interests to broaden students’ visual language, culminating in the development of a body of work that is authentic to each artist.
Students entering senior year are provided a private studio space to work for the entirety of their final year, where they are mentored individually and engage in critical discourse with their peers and distinguished guests. The Fine Arts department offers a BFA in Drawing and Painting, in addition to an Emphasis in Illustration.
Our Fine Arts faculty is composed of nationally and internationally recognized artists who are invested in mentoring their students to enter the diverse world of visual arts.
About the program
LCAD’s Fine Arts department presents entering students with an immersive artistic experience offering a robust foundation in representational drawing, painting and sculpture with an emphasis placed on academic figuration.

Leadership
Led by Joseph Todorovitch, Chair of Fine Arts, an award-winning artist whose work has been featured at the Smithsonian and the Butler Institute of American Art, LCAD’s Drawing + Painting faculty bring a wealth of professional experience and artistic mastery. Our instructors have contributed to prestigious projects and exhibitions worldwide, including the Beijing World Art Museum and various renowned galleries. Faculty members have created for major companies, including Disney and Warner Brothers, while maintaining active, award-winning careers. Their expertise spans classical techniques, contemporary painting, and sculpture, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive education grounded in both tradition and innovation.
