Achievement

Brandon J. Tam, LCAD Graphic Design + Digital Media Alumni

We are proud of LCAD alumnus Brandon J. Tam, who was commissioned to design the official uniforms for the 2026 AMAZN All-Star Showcase, an annual event honoring the best Asian heritage basketball players in the nation.

The project included jerseys, shorts, banners, signage, and a custom basketball. A highlight of the showcase was the presentation of a custom jersey Brandon designed to basketball icon Jeremy Lin, a moment that speaks to the caliber of the work and the reach of Brandon’s growing career.

Growing
Career

From LCAD to the Biggest Stages in Sports

Since graduating from LCAD’s Graphic Design + Digital Media program, Brandon has built an impressive career at the intersection of art and professional sports. He has served as a Graphic Designer for the San Francisco 49ers, where his contributions have included designing the team’s 75th Anniversary logo and co-leading a Latinx Heritage Month creative project with coworker Emilio Cortez. That project spanned multiple mediums, digital platforms, and a hand-painted football was featured on KTVU Fox 2 News, and was part of a larger body of work that earned a 2021 Clio Sports Silver Award.

His professional client roster includes the San Jose Sharks, Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Chargers, Anaheim Ducks, NBA Superstar Stephen Curry, NFL Pro-Bowl Running Back Raheem Mostert, Pixar Animation Studios, Vans Footwear, Hurley, and Stance Socks, among many others.

Brandon’s accomplishments extend back to his time as an LCAD student. In 2018, he was featured in the Los Angeles Times for his redesign of the Anaheim Ducks’ Wild Wing mascot, and earned a Merit Award in the Global Youth Design Contest, competing against more than 2,300 entries from 10 countries.

The LCAD
Community

A Full-Circle Moment, Eight Years in the Making

What makes this achievement especially meaningful is its connection to the LCAD community. On April 26, 2018, LCAD alumna and adjunct faculty member Amber Miller visited campus to speak about her journey designing NBA uniforms at Nike. Brandon has credited that visit as the moment he realized a career combining art and professional sports was possible.

Eight years later, on that exact same date, his first basketball uniform design debuted at the AMAZN All-Star Showcase.

“I think I would have never worked in sports if I had not heard Amber’s story,” Brandon shared. “I’m so glad I didn’t miss class that day.”

We could not be more proud of Brandon, and we cannot wait to see what he does next.
