Tuition at LCAD is established annually by the Board of Trustees and is subject to change each year.
BFA + POST-BACCALAUREATE TUITION
Tuition for 2017-2018 will be $29,800 a year or $14,900 per semester. Part time enrollment is calculated at $1,242 per unit. Part-time enrollment is defined as any student enrolling in less than 12 units.
Tuition for the Drawing, Painting and Art of Game Design MFA programs are calculated per unit. Because of the nature of the programs, MFA Candidates pay the per-unit cost regardless of their enrollment status.
2016-2017 Academic Year
MFA Drawing and Painting: $1,056.00 per unit ($31,680 annually, 30 units)
MFA Art of Game Design: $1,150.00 per unit ($34,500 annually, aprox 30 units)
MFA Creative Writing: $1,083.00 per unit ($32,490 annually, aprox 30 units)
Methods of Payment
LCAD accepts cash, check, Master Card, and Visa. LCAD allows students the option to pay tuition in three payments over the course of the semester. Failure to make tuition payments shall be considered cause to bar a student from class, receiving grades, withhold diploma or transcripts, or enforce suspension.
If a student withdraws from LCAD prior to completing 60% of a semester or 60% of a class less than a semester in length, a refund will be calculated on a pro-rated basis using a percentage that is proportional to the enrollment period completed by the student. The refund is calculated by multiplying the percentage of attendance in the class or classes by LCAD’s charges for the classes attempted. No refunds are paid after the 60% completion date.
LCAD MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
The LCAD Institutional Grant (Merit Scholarship) is offered to many students accepted for admission to LCAD. The Merit Scholarship is decided at the point of acceptance and is based on both a student’s academic record as well as the strength of the admissions portfolio. If granted, this scholarship is renewed annually for the duration of their time at LCAD, provided they stay in good academic standing (maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and a minimum term GPA of 2.0), and have no incompletes on academic record.
BFA students must also enroll in at least 9 units each semester to keep their Merit Scholarship
Because of the nature of the graduate program, MFA Candidates who are awarded the Merit Scholarship will have it distributed based on the number of units enrolled in.
