Shannon Garcia, a lover of the arts and a fellow LCAD Alumni, completed her BA in Graphic Arts and went on to garner work experience in the apparel industry for a variety of prominent names such as Hurley, Rip Curl, Billabong, Honolula Surf, Lost, Disney, and Nike. These connections have led to creating lasting collaborations between LCAD and companies such as Stance, Nike, and Hurley. Along with co-creating the Action Sports Program alongside Catharine Eure, LCAD’s Chair of Graphic Design, Shannon enjoys mentoring students and seeing them succeed beyond their time in her classroom. Shannon’s hands on teaching style involves moving out into professional working environments such as print houses and apparel companies so that students can experience real world application for their talents. Encouraging students to create both on and off the computer, Shannon strives to emphasize and assist development fine arts skills. Ultimately, Shannon seeks to have a lasting impact on students, helping them understand and appreciate the process, from creation to production.
When she isn’t pursuing artistic endeavors, Shannon, a California native, treasures time spent adventuring and traveling. Taking advantage of the diverse landscape of Southern California, Shannon feels most at home when in nature, from the beaches to the mountains. She can be found meeting animals at a farm, growing her own foods, exploring community events, or cruising a gem or bug show! Her inspiration comes from working hard while remaining creative and true to herself. This includes being the best mom, teacher, and friend that she can be, while keeping busy, staying positive, and enjoying every facet life has to offer!
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
