Growing up in Laguna, Dan had an early connection to the Ocean and surrounding hills. Surfing, Skateboarding and riding bikes gave him the freedom to experience this environment in a captivating way. Building and fixing the toys of the trade gave him a technical glimpse into the importance of design and function.
He started his career as a Sample Coordinator helping to build garments for Rusty Surfboards in 1996. He went on to design apparel for many Action Sports brands including Billabong, Quiksilver, C1RCA and Captain Fin. He was fortunate to spend many years working in local manufacturing with both startup brands and established workwear makers.
Now back in the Action Sports industry working as Senior Designer for Element Skateboards, part of the Boardriders group, he is able to participate in the environmental progression of our industry as a member of the Boardrider’s Sustainability Committee.
As an Adjunct Professor at LCAD since 2013, he is deeply honored to share his experience and connections with the students to help them find their own path in design.
