The Auguste Deter Foundation, a nonprofit focused on Alzheimer’s disease prevention, presents its first annual “Art of Alzheimer’s” fundraising event, a silent auction of fine art by featured artists and Alzheimer’s patients, on November 20th, at Laguna College of Art and Design‘s LCAD Gallery in downtown Laguna Beach. The VIP portion of the event starts at 4:00 PM, with more than 100 guests expected, and will feature passed delicacies and cocktails. Tickets for the VIP event are $100 and can be purchased by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
The “Art of Alzheimer’s” event will showcase a variety of works by featured artists as well as art generated specifically for this event by patients currently living with Alzheimer’s disease. The art will be available for sale through silent auction, with proceeds supporting the AD Foundation and their mission to Prevent Alzheimer’s Now! through public education and continued scientific research. General admission to the gallery, which is located at 374 Ocean Avenue in Laguna Beach, will begin at 6:30 PM with a suggested donation of $20 at the door.
The AD Foundation is a non-profit, charitable foundation formed in honor of the first patient diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease — Auguste Deter. The foundation was founded by Dr. Malcolm A. Leissring, an Alzheimer’s researcher at UC Irvine’s Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND). The AD Foundation is now comprised of more than 20 active members, many from the Laguna Beach community. “We are so appreciative of our many supporters, particularly LCAD, all the artists and collectors who have donated art, as well as our growing team of advocates within the Foundation, for making this amazing event possible,” said Dr. Leissring. “We invite everyone to join us in the common cause of defeating this devastating disease.”
