The worlds of your imagination become reality in the Game Art program. Activate and initiate characters and worlds that only you can conceive through classical and virtual mediums with instructors from the leading companies in the game industry. LCAD creates students who draw inspiration from everything they are exposed to, and the freedom and versatility to express that synthesis how they see fit.
It takes dedication and hard work to be a leading innovator, and that opportunity is available to you. Our program is project-based in that you will be able to hone your creative skills through a rigorous foundation program in classical training your freshman year, and then spend the next two years immersed in the software and creative skills to become a vital team member for your senior project.
Successful student projects are working game prototypes and game conversions or modifications. Upon completion students will benefit from practical working experience in game development and will have polished working prototypes to show their work. The current development pipeline makes use of the Source SDK or Torque Game Engine Advanced to create functioning game prototypes. Content is created using Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3D Studio Max, ZBrush, Corel Painter, and CS3.
The Game Art program is honored to have access to leaders from EA, Blizzard, Double Helix, High Moon, and NCsoft to review and council your work and help guide the program.
The ever-growing job market in the game field is an open door to your future. Although Game Art is a relatively new major at LCAD, our placement record already has students as part-time employees in the workforce .
Embrace the future with confidence.
